Amnesty X is a 5 piece rock band from Pampanga. They were formed in summer of 2001 by guitarist Bj and drummer Jr who were inspired from their local metal heroes Greyhoundz, Slapshock & Cheese (Queso). And they acquired their 3rd member bassist Alvin, who shared his talent and experiences in playing the bass guitar. And drummer Jr asked Dens, their childhood friend and their 4th member of the band to sing & jam with them. Since vocalist Dennis has a background listening to Rage Against the Machine.After a few months of jamming, they opened their mind to new different sounds relating to rock, metal and different kinds of genre. They listened more to foreign acts such as Deftones, RATM, Korn, Limp Bizkit, A Perfect Circle, Tool and some other new bands today such as Killswitch Engage, 30 Seconds to Mars, Bullet for my Valentine, Trivium and of course they still listens to their Pinoy Metal heroes Slapshock, Greyhoundz, Queso and their current favorite local band Urbandub.
After two years of covering songs, they started to write their own songs, their own riffs, own beat and writing their own lyrics. Since the other member went to college, they dont jam that often, trice a month. Thats the reason why their writing sessions gone slow. But since theyve already know how to manage their time and balanced their studies and their gig skeds theyve completed their 7th song opus.
Theyve won several battle of the bands, even though their sound is what they called not-so- radio-friendly sound, but still theyve wanted to prove to other bands that they are sincere, loyal & will always be true to their sound. And last 2006, theyve won the elimination round at Wow Hilaga, City of San Fernando (P) for the Muziklaban 2006, theyre crowned as the Northern & Central Luzon Area Champion.
